So, why the name Magnolia Group?
We often get asked about our corporate name, whether we just like trees, the south or if it's just a tribute to Leslie's days at Ole Miss. We were a little more serious than that when choosing a name. We wanted the name of our firm to communicate our excitement to trail blaze a path for the next generation, while still showing our respect for tradition and stability. The Magnolia has had a long history both in Texas and our country.
With the legendary Magnolia Petroleum Company and its iconic symbol of a Pegasus, the flying red horse, atop an oil derrick, we felt Magnolia was a good fit. After all, the Magnolia Headquarters in Dallas (now the Magnolia Hotel) was Texas' tallest building for over two decades, and many thought it represented Texans' entrepreneurial spirit of searching for ways to do things bigger and better. We look for better and more innovative approaches to solve problem. We like competition, rise to the challenge and come out on top.
We also liked the fact that Magnolia represents many dimensions. It symbolizes charm and hospitality, and as a tree, it has been around for almost 100 million years. Magnolias are tough. They are firmly planted. They are survivors.
